The Workout
The Workout
She is a greek visual artist and performer living in Geneva. (Born in Athina. 1987). Her work has two poles, endurance and narration.
Endurance, linked to weights as a feminine heritage, can be traced back to the fundamental education of girls, myths, and the Christian doctrine. As a female artist, Kouloukouri plays with the ‘grand narratives’, be that art history, or fundamental fictions like the ou Bible. Through her objets and performances she inserts herself and appropriates these narratives. Through her own texts, In an intimate confessional tone or an elaborate novelistic one, the narratives points at female characters voicing their opinions on art, life and ‘couple politics’. In my work ancient techniques, such as ceramics and stone, evoking the eternal life of minerals, are juxtaposed with contemporary techniques such as drone videos, arduino circuits and Lumetri effects. Be it in ‘’old media’’ or ‘’new me- dia’’ my work is a material exploration of fragility and solidity as vectors of female identity.
With fellow artist Vana Kostayola (KAVECS), they founded Women Telling the Future, a participative performance where a group of women amateur oracles, invite us into public readings of private futures. WTTF premiered in 2019.
